Two-factor authentication adds a layer of security to the login process, requiring users to enter a verification code in addition to their login information.
With two-factor authentication enabled in Selzy, you will always need your password and a verification code from the authenticator app on your mobile device to access your Selzy account.
Enable two-factor authentication in your Selzy account
Start with installing an authenticator app on your mobile device. We recommend using Google Authenticator because it offers an easy recovery process if you lose access to your device.
The process will be similar enough for other authenticator apps, so if you already have one installed, you can use it.
Make sure your mobile device's time is set to automatic. A manually set time can cause new access codes generated every 30 seconds to be out of sync, leading to login errors.
In your Selzy account, go to Account ID — Settings — Security — Two-factor authentication. To start the set up process, click Configure.
Next, follow the on-screen instructions or the instructions below to add your Selzy account to Google Authenticator.
Open Google Authenticator and tap the plus sign (+) to add a new account. The position and the appearance of the button may vary depending on your device and the OS.
To add your Selzy account, either scan the QR code (1) with the Google Authenticator’s in-built camera or manually enter the code (also referred to as the ‘key’ or ‘secret key’) shown on-screen in your Selzy account (2).
After successfully adding your Selzy account to Google Authenticator, you will see Selzy on the list of connected accounts with a six-digit code. The code changes every 30 seconds.
Enter the six-digit code from Google Authenticator into the dedicated field in your Selzy account and click Enable.
If two-factor authentication is successfully enabled, you will see a green checkmark next to the page’s title — Two-factor authentication — and the option to Disable two-factor authentication.
- Two-factor authentication can only be set up for logging into your account. It cannot be used for other actions within your account.
- To connect a different device, repeat the steps above.
- Additional users must set up two-factor authentication for their accounts independently of the master account.
Log into the account with two-factor authentication enabled
- Log in using your email address and password or your social media account.
- Enter the six-digit code from the connected authenticator app, and click Confirm. You can choose to remember the device for 30 days.
Reset the password with two-factor authentication enabled
- On the Selzy login page, click Reset.
- Enter your email to receive a link to reset your password.
- Click Reset password in the email. You will be redirected to the page where you can set up a new password.
- Create a new password, repeat it, and click Reset password.
- Enter the six-digit code from the connected authenticator app, and click Confirm. If you previously chose to remember the device, you will be logged in automatically.
Disable two-factor authentication
- In your Selzy account, go to Account ID — Settings — Security — Two-factor authentication.
- Click Disable.
- Enter the six-digit code from the connected authenticator app, and click Send.
The page will refresh automatically. You will see the green checkmark removed from the page title — Two-factor authentication — and the option to Configure two-factor authentication available again. Additionally, you will receive an email confirming that two-factor authentication was successfully disabled.
