Start sending SMS with Selzy

In Selzy, you can create and send SMS messages to your own customer base.

Use this feature to:

  • Send important updates like order confirmations, delivery notifications, or appointment reminders
  • Share time-sensitive offers, discounts, and promotions
  • Reach customers instantly with high open rates
  • Stay connected with your audience alongside email and other marketing channels

How to access SMS campaigns

To access and launch your first SMS campaign, you need to reach out to Selzy support team via chat or support@selzy.com.

You’ll be asked to provide the following details:

  • Countries you plan to target
  • Your marketing goals (for example, transactional or promotional messages)
  • Message examples or templates
  • Sender ID (also known as an Alpha Name) — value entered in the "From" field instead of the sender's phone number
  • Estimated daily or monthly message volume

 

This is the standard set of details, but it may vary depending on your use case or the country you’re working with.

As part of the setup, you’ll need to choose one of the following options:

  • Option 1 — Payment via bank transfer (IBAN)

You can ask for an invoice to be issued to your company and top up your Selzy balance. Note that payment is available only via bank transfer to the account of ECOMZ Holding Limited (Cyprus).

  • Option 2 — Signing a Warranty Letter

You can sign a Warranty Letter via DocuSign.

In both cases, you’ll also need to provide proof of consent from your subscribers.

Once your Sender ID (Alpha Name) is validated and necessary legal documentation is provided, you’ll gain access to SMS campaigns and can start sending messages.

 

‼️ We strongly recommend using message templates you submitted during the approval process. Significant content changes can affect moderation outcomes, and in some cases, messages may be delayed or blocked.

How to register a sender name

To access SMS campaigns, you must register the name of the sender from whom your messages will be delivered.

 

‼️ SMS campaigns are sent only from alpha-names registered with providers through Selzy. Sending campaigns from a phone number is prohibited.

The sender name is registered separately for each country. If you need to send messages to numbers in several countries, you need to register an alpha name for each of them.

 

⏰ Registration time depends on the country of operation, but usually take no more than two weeks.

Please note, that sender name registration process is done by our partner providers and we cannot directly influence the registration time.

To register a sender name, reach out to Selzy support via chat or to support@selzy.com and we will walk you through the process. If necessary, attach documents that give the right to use this name.

The sender's name must meet the following requirements:

  1. The name should be directly associated with your business, recognizable to your audience and at least somewhat unique. Avoid generic or vague names that don’t clearly identify who the message is from.

For example, instead of “Shop”, “Service”, or “Restaurant”, use “element_shop”, “Bloom.Café”, or “NovaClinic”.

  1. The sender's name must fully or partially match:
    • the name of the legal entity under which it is registered;
    • a trademark owned by this legal entity;
    • the domain name owned by this legal entity.
  2. The sender's name must be in Latin letters and consist of 3-11 characters. Allowed characters:
    • any letters of the Latin alphabet in any case: az, AZ;
    • numbers from 0 to 9;
    • special characters: hyphen (-), underscore (_), period (.)
  3. The sender's name should not contain spaces.

You can register multiple sender names at once. If they belong to the same legal entity, you must indicate all the names you want to register in the application form or letter of guarantee.

If several sender names will be registered for different legal entities, then each of them must go through a separate registration procedure.

Cost of SMS messages

The cost of sending an SMS message will be deducted from your Selzy account balance. All the details will be available in the Account Management section.

 

The cost of the message is indicated for a standard message (160 Latin or 70 Cyrillic letters). If your message consists of several parts, each part will be charged as a separate message.

Price varies depending on the country. For some countries, registration set up fees or/and monthly fees may apply.

Restrictions on sending SMS campaigns

Mobile providers are constantly working to keep spam out of subscribers’ inboxes. Because of this, they’ve introduced stricter rules for businesses sending SMS campaigns.

Here’s what you need to know before you get started:

  • SMS campaigns are available only to legal entities.
  • You can only send messages after your sender name (alpha name) is registered and approved.
  • You can send SMS only to contacts who have given you permission to receive messages.
  • Your message content must comply with the laws of the country you’re sending to.

If you’re transparent, compliant, and respectful of your audience — your messages will go through smoothly.
