Key takeaways

  • Selzy's new feature, Selzy MCP, reduces the time needed to prepare a segmented email campaign from 20 minutes to 5 minutes in internal tests.
  • Selzy MCP allows small business owners to easily launch email campaigns without a dedicated email marketer, using AI assistants like Claude to select the audience, prepare the email, and check it before sending.
  • Segmentation in email campaigns can increase clicks and conversions while reducing unsubscribes.

Internal tests cut preparation of a segmented campaign from 20 minutes to five

Selzy, an email marketing platform for solopreneurs and small businesses, announced Selzy MCP, helping owners launch email campaigns without a dedicated email marketer. In Selzy’s internal tests, preparing a segmented campaign from an existing newsletter took five minutes with MCP, compared with 20 minutes manually.

Why Selzy MCP matters for small businesses

The integration helps owners use email to promote offers, engage customers and drive sales. They describe what they want to achieve, and an AI assistant such as Claude helps select the audience, prepare the email and check it before sending — all directly in their Selzy account.

Almost 30 million businesses in the United States have no employees besides the owner, representing approximately 82.3% of all U.S. small businesses, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy. For these owners, preparing a newsletter competes with sales, orders and customer questions.

According to Selzy’s internal platform data, approximately 1.65% of emails sent between January 1 and mid-October 2026 were directed to segmented audiences. The figure represents the share of emails sent, not the percentage of customers using segmentation. Yet segmentation can increase clicks and conversions while reducing unsubscribes.

What Selzy MCP can do

Selzy MCP connects AI assistants to the account’s contacts, email content and campaign history through Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard for connecting AI applications to external tools and data. Its 56 tools cover the main tasks involved in preparing, sending and reviewing email campaigns:

  • Build an audience. Find or import contacts and create segments using supported filters. A request such as “Find subscribers who opened an email in the last 30 days but haven’t clicked in the last 60” becomes a saved audience segment.
  • Prepare the email. Create and edit an email, use a saved template or copy a previous newsletter and update selected sections.
  • Check and launch. Run a spam check, count recipients, send a test email and check the sender address and remaining sending capacity. Users can then confirm an immediate send, schedule the campaign or open it in the Selzy editor for a final review.
  • Review performance. Compare campaign results and inspect contact-level engagement. Questions such as “Which three of my last ten newsletters generated the highest click-through rates?” are answered using the account’s campaign history.

“Small business owners need customers to come back and buy again, but many handle every newsletter themselves alongside sales, orders and customer service,” said Andrew Dyuzhov, Marketing Director at Selzy. “With Selzy MCP, an owner can ask the assistant to follow up with people who engaged with a recent offer, prepare the email and check it before sending. We want owners to spend their time deciding which customers to reach and what to offer them, while AI handles the campaign setup. That is how we see email marketing becoming practical for a business with no marketing team.”

Owners stay in control

Users review campaigns and confirm each send in the chat. Campaigns remain subject to Selzy’s standard moderation and account checks, and scheduled sends can be cancelled before they start. Building automations, uploading files directly, creating forms and landing pages, and setting up A/B tests remain in the Selzy interface.

Availability

Selzy MCP is available now on all Selzy plans. Selzy has tested it with Claude and Claude Code, and it works with AI applications that support custom MCP connections. Setup instructions and further details are available in our guide to MCP for email marketing.
